Core Clerkship Curriculum - Resident Mentor

Each of you has been assigned a resident mentor whom you should meet with in week 1 of the rotation and spend up to 1.5 hours observing in the reading room. The role of the resident mentor will be to assist you in choosing an appropriate case and selecting images for your final presentation, as well as suggesting valuable articles or other resources to serve as references for your final presentation. It is required that the bulk of the work of the presentation (deciding on content, organizing the material, importing images into PowerPoint, rehearsing, etc.) fall to the student, as you are ultimately responsible for the entire presentation. It is important to remember that resident mentors have many additional responsibilities and limited time, and it is expected that up to three brief meetings between student and mentor will be needed for adequate presentation preparation. Out of courtesy to your mentor, please approach them early (before or by the beginning of your 3rd week) for help regarding your final presentation. Last-minute requests the weekend before your presentation date are not guaranteed to be granted, given the time constraints of the mentors.

Please note that you should be working independently and not asking for mentors’ help for PACS1 and PACS2 assignments.
