Hours - 10:00pm to 8:00am
Responsibilities Overview
- 10pm-11pm: Read any ED MRI or inpatient MRI that arrives on the list before 11pm. Preliminary reports should be paged or called to the responding clinician and a brief note typed into Centricity or entered into ANCR as appropriate. You do not need to dictate a full report in Powerscribe.
- 11pm-8am: Read any inpatient MRI and CTA studies for which you get paged (you are backup to the in-house resident, who can call you with questions or can defer cases to you if the ED volume is high). Call the person who paged you to discuss your findings and place a summary impression in Centricity. You do not need to dictate a full report in Powerscribe.
- You do not read ED MRI/CTA or inpatient non-angio CT cases after 11pm - these are read by the in-house resident (pager 11883).
- The on-call attending can be paged if you are having a problem.
Children’s Responsibilities Overview
- The BWH fellows read overnight MRI only (excluding vent checks). The tech will call you to check images while the patient is on the table; look at them for quality, determine if you need additional sequences, and if you need to give contrast.
- Type a full report in Children's powerscribe and sign as a prelim report.
- Dictations should be assigned to the next day “MR/Binney 7” attending, not to the on-call attending.
- If you have a question and need to run the case by an attending, you would page the “Faculty call.”
- BCH neuro CT (including CTA) and vent check MRs are read by the peds resident/fellow on call and in-house overnight general peds attending, not you!
- The most important phone numbers for overnight BCH cases are the MRI overnight tech (617-355-6315) and the BCH ED (617-355-3311).
- Friday call starts at 11pm instead of 10pm so that you have time to commute home from the evening shift.
